I started my videoblog in October of 2006 because I was looking for another, more effective (and less time-consuming) way to tell stories — something beyond typing words onto my blog. It allows me an avenue to creatively explore a medium that I’ve never worked with before, and I learn a lot in the process of producing, shooting, and editing videos. As a result, to coordinate all the various aspects of the video teaches me to see things a little differently.
Also, these videos are sort of dual-purpose. The more personal videos help my friends and family back home see and hear that I’m (in fact) alive and well, and not ignoring their phone calls or anything like that. You know how it is.
